Celebrating Our Young Marketers at Ormston!

General News

We are incredibly proud of our students who recently took part in the Young Marketers Programme run by School Food Matters.

Over the past few months, our students have worked hard to grow their own vegetables, overcoming some particularly challenging weather conditions along the way. Their dedication and teamwork paid off as they nurtured a fantastic crop, ready to take to Kirkgate market.

As part of the programme, our students joined six other participating schools at Kirkgate Market in Leeds, where they had the exciting opportunity to sell the produce they had grown themselves.

It was a fantastic real-world learning experience, giving students the chance to develop their confidence, communication, enterprise skills, and showing some great bartering skills too. The students also had the honour of meeting the Lord Mayor of Leeds!

Thanks to their hard work and determination, the event raised an amazing £265 for Incredible Edible Leeds, an organisation that helps communities grow, share and celebrate local food.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved. Our students were outstanding ambassadors for Ormston School, and we are delighted to celebrate their achievements. Well done to all for your green thumbs and entrepreneurial spirit! You can view some photos from the day in the gallery below.
