A Blooming Success for Lynn and our School’s Community Garden! π±πΌ
We are absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news. Lynn Brown and Ormston School have won not one, but three prestigious awards for our Community Garden at this yearβs Yorkshire in Bloom awards!
Earlier this year, the garden achieved an RHS Level 2 award in March, thanks to a lot of effort from Lynn, and our pupils and staff, when it was entered for the Royal Horticultural Society scheme. In July, one of the Yorkshire in Bloom judges visited the garden to assess it against their high standards.
We hoped we had made a good impression, but nothing could have prepared us for what came next!
π Level 5 – Outstanding
We were awarded the highest possible recognition, Level 5: Outstanding, for our community garden.

Best New Entry 2025 β Yorkshire
To our amazement, we were then announced as Best New Entry for all of Yorkshire. It was an incredibly emotional and inspiring moment.
π Community Champion 2025 β Yorkshire
Just when we thought the day couldnβt get any better, we were called up once again to receive the Community Champion 2025 award. This award covers the whole of Yorkshire, not just Leeds or West Yorkshire.
These awards are a true testament to the hard work, passion, and commitment that Lynn has poured into creating a vibrant, inclusive, and inspiring space for our school and local community.
This recognition is not only a huge honour, it is also a fantastic springboard for further developing the outdoor space here at Ormston. We are excited to see where this journey takes us next.
π A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported the garden so far. This success belongs to the whole community.
