Ofsted Success: Ormston School Rated ‘Good’ in First Inspection

🎉 We are incredibly proud to announce that Ormston School has been rated ‘Good’ in our very first Ofsted inspection!

The report, which is now published on both the Ofsted and Ormston School’s websites — is a powerful recognition of the safe, supportive, and nurturing environment we have worked so hard to create.

Headteacher James Brown shared their reflections on the inspection:

“I am genuinely moved by the recognition of the safe, supportive, and nurturing environment we have created at Ormston School. The report clearly reflects the care and commitment that our team shows every day, and it’s wonderful to see that acknowledged so positively.”

Inspectors highlighted that pupils feel settled, well cared for, and happy to attend, echoing the strong relationships and calm, respectful atmosphere seen across the school. The breadth of the curriculum and the rich, creative learning opportunities – from growing food for the urban market to outdoor learning in our wooded grounds – were also noted as significant strengths that are enriching pupils’ lives in meaningful ways.

“It’s also great to see that Ofsted have recognised all we do to support pupils with EHCPs, and how staff respond swiftly and thoughtfully to emotional needs. The calm and respectful atmosphere described is a credit to our staff and shows the strength of relationships across the school.”

The report also included helpful guidance for our next steps, particularly in extending ambition for the most able pupils and strengthening technical writing skills. These development points are already being embraced by our dedicated staff team.
